3. Digital identity based on 7 domains

1. Main characteristics and why blockchain domains are needed

Blockchain domains are designed for ease of interaction when sending/receiving many cryptocurrencies, while the address is a human-readable domain name (for example vitalik.eth), and not a long alphanumeric address — for example — 0x1111222233344445556667777888aaabbb, which is impossible to remember. Conventionally, the address above is an address for only one cryptocurrency, that is, if you want to send 200 cryptocurrencies, you will need to store 200 different addresses.
With blockchain domains, everything is simpler — all addresses are registered in the domain itself (as well as links to social networks, websites — see photo below) and the sender from different blockchains sends cryptocurrency to one domain, which is fast, convenient, error-free and prevents phishing.

We can give an example of a similar situation with an IP address on the Internet we are familiar with. A traditional domain name is a specific Internet Protocol (“IP”) address for a website accessible over the traditional Internet. When someone enters the traditional domain name “www.vitalik.com" into the URL field, the browser queries a Domain Name Service (“DNS”) server, which associates the domain name with the correct IP address and displays the website associated with domain.
A blockchain domain such as “vitalik.eth” does not use a DNS server to associate with an IP address on the Internet. Instead, it is associated with an address on the blockchain via an NFT provided by a domain name service on the blockchain. A blockchain address, associated with a blockchain domain name, is a special container in which cryptocurrencies and NFTs can be stored.

Some figures of market leaders (changed significantly after the publication of the First Part) — more than 3.7 million registrations in Unstoppabledomains and 2.58 million registrations in ENS.Domains
In addition to the above, here is the main functionality of blockchain domains
-Decentralized site, subdomains (with the possibility of transferring rights to third parties)
- NFT compatible
- Integration of web2 and web3 (e.g. DNS and ENS)- Identification in the Metaverses
Some of the features may be in development.

3. Domain-based digital identity
To disrupt traditional login verification, in 2021, ENS Labs and the non-profit Ethereum Foundation sponsored an initiative called Sign-in With Ethereum. Their mission is to offer an open source alternative to Facebook, Apple and Google logins. This way, wherever users see the option to log in with Ethereum, you will also be given the ability to seamlessly use your ENS .eth name and maintain sovereign rights to your identity when visiting all supporting applications.
If names are like .eth. As .btc and .lens etc continue to gain traction in the market, we could see a world with sovereign digital identities and fewer passwords. And this future may be closer than we imagine.
